Native to 🇨🇦 Canada and 🇺🇸 USA, east of the 🗻︎ Rocky Mountains.

of butterflies and moths, in some areas,
including being the only host plant for ⚫︎ eggs and 🐛︎ larvae of the monarch butterfly  Danaus plexippus.
