Sometimes spelled burr oak, also called mossycup oak and mossycup white oak.  One of the white oaks.   Part of oak  genus Quercus and beech / oak  family Fagaceae and bayberry / beech / birch / oak / walnut  order Fagales.

Native to 🇨🇦 Canada and 🇺🇸 USA central plains and Midwest.
